Like Instagram comedian Oluwakaponeski likes to say, don’t be a bastard baby. Left to majority of Nigerian music fans, Mr Eazi (real name Tosin Ajibade) is a nonsense bastard baby.
Raised for the most part of his life in Ghana, there’s no denying that the hiplife movement there inspired him a lot, and that’s fine. He too has found a way to blend the two countries’ sounds to create a career for himself. As good Nigerians, we accepted him when he returned like a prodigal son. But no sooner than we did, did he start to run his mouth like tap- to the annoyance of Naija people.
Here’s a quick rundown of the times his ‘big mouth’ has offended Nigerians.
1. When he said Ghana influenced Nigerian music
Ghana’s influence on present day “Naija Sound” cannot be over emphasized!!!

2. That time he subbed Reekado Banks and Davido
Pls 21st at landmark #lifeiseazilagos dont come if u are not coming to vibe with mr eazi! Stay in ur house or attend other optional events

3. So he said he started the Ghana Must Go fashion trend
He told Vogue: ‘I want to dress in Ghana-must-go!’ And I said I wanted it tailored in the most prestigious traditional Nigerian fit. A lot of people got mad! They said they’d fight me in the street. But I’ve also seen people wearing it on Instagram. It’s getting the youth to wear the Ghana-must-go. At the end of the day, it’s all love.’
4. ‘I’m the second biggest selling after Wizkid’
‘I don’t mean to brag but in the past one year in West Africa, I’ve been the second bestselling artiste on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Tidal … the second best next to Wizkid.’
5. Then he went on to say he rejected millions of dollars from labels that wanted to sign him- because he’s with Starboy
‘Between the first Ghana Music Awards where Wizkid announced me till now, I’ve gotten record deal offers going into millions of dollars,’
